Now imagine offering your clients an evidence-based therapy...delivered with structure, relational attunement, and transformational impact.

This hybrid EMDR Basic Training meets EMDRIA’s requirements for instruction, practicum, and consultation. With one in-person weekend in Austin and a second weekend online, you’ll receive compassionate, high-caliber teaching and consulting from two respected professionals, Jackie and Marshall.


Your Training Environment

The in-person portion of this EMDRIA-approved Basic Training will be held in Marshall’s intentionally designed workshop space in Austin, Texas. The environment invites presence, regulation, and choice. Participants are encouraged to engage in ways that support their nervous systems, whether that means standing, stretching, moving, or taking sensory breaks as needed. Healthy snacks and drinks will be provided. With neurodivergent learners in mind, the space honors many ways of learning and being.

Jackie Flynn, EdS, LMHC‑S, RPT‑S™ | EMDRIA-Approved Trainer for this Training

As an EMDRIA Approved Trainer and Consultant, I’ve had the honor of training hundreds of therapists across the world in both Basic and Advanced EMDR. My work integrates Play Therapy, Sandtray, and nature based trauma healing, all grounded in a deep respect for the nervous system and the therapeutic relationship.

I teach with clarity, compassion, and a commitment to making EMDR feel both accessible and transformative, never mechanical or rigid. This training reflects that approach every step of the way.

Marshall is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant with decades of experience in attachment focused therapy, Sandtray, and expressive modalities. His presence during our first weekend is more than supportive, it’s deeply grounding.

    Marshall Lyles, LPC-S, LMFT-S, RPT-S, EMDRIA Approved Consultant Marshall Lyles is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist-Supervisor (LMFT-S), Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S), and EMDRIA Approved Consultant with over 20 years of experience in family and play therapy. Based in Austin, Texas, he specializes in attachment trauma and expressive therapies, particularly Sandtray Therapy as a powerful tool for processing trauma and dissociation. Throughout his career, Marshall has worked in various mental health settings, developing expertise in relational neuroscience, attachment-informed therapy, and trauma-focused interventions. He is a sought-after speaker, trainer, and consultant, presenting nationally and internationally on the integration of EMDR, Sandtray Therapy, and Play Therapy to support deep healing and transformation. In addition to his clinical and training work, Marshall offers supervision and consultation for professionals pursuing EMDR certification and Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credentials, with a focus on incorporating expressive therapies into trauma treatment. He is also a published author, contributing to professional journals and co-authoring books such as Advanced Sandtray Therapy: Digging Deeper into Clinical Practice, Counseling Families: Play-Based Treatment, and EMDR with Children in the Play Therapy Room: An Integrated Approach. Target Audience

This training is intended for mental health professionals who are ready to integrate EMDR therapy into their clinical work. Eligible participants include fully licensed clinicians, pre-licensed professionals working under supervision, and graduate students in the practicum or internship phase of a master’s or doctoral program in a mental health field. Participants should have an active clinical caseload or a pathway to client contact, as the training includes practicum and real-world application. This program is best suited for those who value structure, attunement, and a developmentally respectful approach to trauma therapy across the lifespan. All attendees must meet the eligibility criteria outlined by EMDRIA, available at emdria.org.

Event Learning Objectives

  • Describe the three-pronged approach of EMDR therapy, which includes addressing past memory networks, current disturbance triggers, and future adaptive responses to facilitate holistic healing and recovery.
  • Describe the significance of each assessment component, such as image, negative cognition, positive cognition, emotions, subjective units of disturbance scale (SUD), and sensations.
  • Describe the process of executing Phase 8 - Re-evaluation in EMDR therapy, including the requisite techniques and skills necessary for assessing treatment progress and adjusting therapeutic strategies as needed.
  • Explain EMDR with Illness and Somatic Disorders, focusing on how to deepen work through the connection between cognitions and body sensations.
  • State the professional, legal, and ethical considerations pertinent to the practice of EMDR therapy, including scope of practice, adherence to professional standards, and obtaining informed consent.

Training Policies and Procedures

1. Eligibility for EMDR Training

EMDR Basic Training Eligibility


All applicants must confirm eligibility before registering and paying. If someone registers and is later found to be ineligible, their registration will be canceled and refunded minus a $150 non-refundable administrative fee.


Eligible Professionals


Licensed Mental Health Professionals must be fully licensed in their state or province in one of the following fields:


LCSW

LPC

LMFT

Licensed Psychologist (LP)

Psychiatrist

APRN with a psychiatric specialization

Pre-Licensed Clinicians must:


Have a qualifying master's degree in a mental health field

Be actively working toward licensure under a licensed supervisor

Graduate Students must:


Be in a master’s or doctoral program in a mental health field

Have completed all core academic coursework

Be in the practicum/internship phase

Be on a licensure track and supervised by a fully licensed professional

Supervisors must:


Be fully licensed in a mental health discipline

2. EMDR Training Guide: Overview, Requirements, and Evaluations

This EMDRIA-approved Basic Training includes:


20 hours of lecture

20 hours of practicum

10 hours of required consultation

You must attend all components of the training in full, including consultation, to receive a certificate. Evaluations are required and must be submitted after each module and after the final consultation.


You will receive specific guidance during the training for:


Accessing handouts and materials

Completing evaluations

Scheduling consultation sessions

3. EMDR Basic Training Policies and Guidelines

Attendance Policy

Full attendance at all training days and consultation hours is required for successful completion and certification.


Participation

This training includes experiential components. Active participation in practice sessions is required. You may not participate in the training passively or in audio-only mode.


Technology Expectations

Reliable internet, functioning camera and microphone, and a quiet, confidential space are required.


Professional Conduct

Participants are expected to maintain ethical and respectful behavior in all interactions during training.


4. Training Policies and Procedures

Refund Policy


Cancellations 30+ days prior to training: Refund minus $100 admin fee

Cancellations within 30 days: No refund unless documentation of a qualifying emergency is provided

Emergency Refund Requests

Requests due to emergencies (e.g., hospitalization, immediate family death) must be submitted with documentation to jackie@jackieflynnconsulting.com. Approval is not guaranteed.


Missed Training (Non-Emergency)

If a participant misses part of the training and wishes to transfer to another cohort, a $150 admin transfer fee will apply if space is available.


5. Where can I find my Attendee Dashboard link?

Your Attendee Dashboard link will be sent via email after you register. Please check your inbox for a message from jackie@jackieflynnconsulting.com with your unique access link. If you don’t receive it within 24 hours of registration, email us for assistance.


6. CELS Grievance Policy

To participate in this training, you will need:

All sessions must be attended with video on unless previously discussed. Audio-only attendance does not meet EMDRIA’s requirements.
